About the 2026 General Election
The Electoral Commission of the Distance Education Students’ Association, University of Education, Winneba, has issued the guidelines governing the 2026/2027 Academic Year Elections.
The elections cover Centre, Regional and National positions, with specific requirements governing candidate eligibility, nomination, vetting, voting, result declaration and election challenges.

Opening of Nominations
All Centre, Regional and National nomination forms open.
23 AUG
Closing of Nominations
Nomination closes at the end of the day.
24–25 AUG
Centre Executive Vetting
Online.
26–27 AUG
Regional Executive Vetting
Online.
29–30 AUG
National Executive Vetting
UEW North Campus.
29–30 AUG
Centre Executive Elections
Venue to be communicated.

NATIONAL ELECTION

Who can contest?
NATIONAL POSITIONS
- Registered CODeL-UEW student
- Must not be in final academic year
- Full-time Bachelor’s Degree student
- Minimum CGPA: 3.0
- Meaningful student-affairs experience
- Must not have deferred during the election period
REGIONAL POSITIONS
Same general eligibility requirements, with:
Minimum CGPA: 2.7
CENTRE POSITIONS
Candidates must:
- Be registered CODeL-UEW students
- Not be in their final academic year
- Hold a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree
- Have a minimum 2.5 CGPA
- Meet the other constitutional requirements

VETTING PROCESS
Vetting is conducted to confirm that nominees satisfy the constitutional and regulatory requirements and understand the responsibilities of the office they seek.
Vetting outcomes:
Published no later than two days after all nominees have been vetted.
Appeal:
A disqualified candidate has one hour from publication to appeal to the Judicial Board.
CV submission:
All aspirants must submit their CVs four clear days before scheduled vetting.
Campaigning before clearance:
Aspirants who publicly campaign before official clearance are automatically barred from all positions.

All voting is by secret ballot.

Each voter must vote exactly once.
🚫 No Proxy Voting
Proxy voting is prohibited.

Every voter must complete verification before voting.
🏆 Majority
A candidate wins by simple majority.
