DESA-UEW STUDENTS BOYCOTT WEEKEND TUTORIALS OVER HUGE FEES AND RESULTS ISSUES

Ref. DUS/310124083 To All Students,
31st January, 2024.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
We write officially to inform all meaningful Distance students of CODeL -UEW that, the leadership has taken numerous steps in fighting all the challenges we are going through.
We have written to all stakeholders including the Vice-chancellor of the institution yet we are not getting any positive feedback from them.
Such challenges include huge increments of school fees, increases in resit fees, students not getting hard copy modules to learn while they have paid for, unresolved ICs, failure of management to publish resit results, failure of management to publish last semester results, students who were supposed to graduate last year still in the house just to mention but a few.
We are with this communique informing all students that, we are embarking on a peaceful Demonstration to express our displeasure to CODeL management and the institution at large.
This decision was arrived at during the last National Council and Centre Presidents meeting held last Friday. We will present a petition to the Ministry of Education and Ghana education service (in charge of tertiary)
We have scheduled Saturday 10th February 2024 for this peaceful demonstration across all
study centers.
Please we are making preparations for the intended demonstration by making sure all stakeholders who matters are notified in order not to flaunt any internal or external rules and regulations in our pursuit to seek that justice is served and the deserving treatment is given to us all.

We had wanted to serve management a notice yesterday about the demonstration but we were told senior staff of the University are on strike so all offices were not operational.
We are hereby informing all our students to be in RED and BLACK outfit as they attend the scheduled tutorial this weekend (Saturday and Sunday 3rd and 4th respectively) and boycott tutorials to send a signal to management that Distance Students are not vulnerable as perceived by stakeholders.
Please all modalities of the demonstration will be communicated to our students through their respective Regional and center executives.
We will advise all students to fully participate as we seek justice. Together we can.

The DE Students deserves better
Thank you all.
